The Christian Chamber of Greater Miami Celebrates Teacher Appreciation Month at MorningStar Renewal Center in Pinecrest

On May 18, 2015, the Christian Chamber of Greater Miami hosted a celebration in honor local teachers during National Teacher Appreciation Month. Every day, teachers touch the lives of students, parents and communities in significant ways. The CCOGM brought together several local schools, as well as, business leaders, students and friends for the purpose of uniting our communities around this very special group of servants. Several businesses sponsored the event: Sergio’s, Cookies for Jani and InSouthFlorida, among others.

Special guest Dr. Lawrence Feldman, Vice Chair, MDCPS School Board and keynote speaker Sister Cooke, Headmistress, Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart joined in the celebration. Sister Cooke was honored for her years of excellence and service to this community as she is leaving Miami for a national assignment in Washington DC.

The Florida Christian School Honors Ladies Ensemble graced the event with their angelic voices. Donna Jean Matthews, morning host and James Sheppard, afternoon host at 90.9 LiFE:FM were also in attendance. Christ Fellowship Backpack program director Panos Kourtesis shared how every day there are thousands of children in Miami-Dade who go to sleep hungry on the weekend and how the community can sponsor a hungry child through the CF Backpack program.

The objective of the event was met when several local teachers were honored by the CCOGM and school administrators. Mrs. Su Green from Florida Christian School, Mrs. Jan Tobin from Palmer Trinity, Mr. Matt Dubocq from Westminster and Mrs. Joanna Clark from Miami Christian School were presented with awards.

Kent Crook, CEO WireMasters Electric and CCOGM Founder/ President, along with John Lobo, Executive Director CCOGM hosted the event and extended an invitation to the next CCOGM breakfast event on Tuesday, June 9th from 7:15 to 9AM at the Coral Gables Country Club.

The Christian Chamber’s mission is to unite the leaders of our business community through the principles taught by Jesus Christ. The goal of this organization is for business leaders to grow together spiritually and to provide needed resources and mentorship to the youth / future leaders attending our local schools. Our contributions will allow children to experience learning success and become lifelong learners and contributing members of our community and the world while experiencing God’s love.
