Guardianship, Trusts, and Estates attorney Lian de la Riva, a partner with the Florida law firm of Markowitz Ringel Trusty + Hartog, P.A. (MRTH), has been elected 2025 Vice President of Programs of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), a position that oversees the association’s educational, mentoring, and pipeline programs for various levels of legal professionals. Lian was sworn in at the HNBA Annual Conference on September 3-5, 2025 in the Greater Washington, DC area.
A member of the firm’s Probate + Guardianship and Trusts + Estates groups, Lian concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, probate, and guardianship law. She represents professional fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and incapacitated individuals in all stages of complex administration as well as litigated guardianship, probate, or trust matters. Lian also acts as a court-appointed trustee and curator. She holds a J.D. from Florida International University College of Law and a B.A. from Florida International University.
Lian has received numerous honors and recognitions in the community. She is named in the 2026 Best Lawyers in America in the Ones to Watch category and was named a 2024 Florida Super Lawyers as a Rising Star. Lian held the position of National Secretary for the HNBA for the 2022/23 term and was the 2022 recipient of the HNBA’s Top Lawyers under 40 Award which celebrates and highlights the accomplishments and contributions of HNBA members who have distinguished themselves in the legal profession. Further, Lian serves on the Board of Directors of the Guatemalan-Maya Center and is a member of the Young Lawyers Section and Elder Law Section of The Florida Bar.
