Miami Palmetto High School senior Martina Villacreces runs an organization called Spoonfed United. The organization collects baby food and baby spoons.

She has collected baby food from members of her neighborhood by setting up local donation sites. She also had her first collection station in front of Publix.

“I put together a good team of people I trust,” she says. “I want to do the best for this because it’s my passion. I want to do the best for the cause.”

Her plan is to donate the food to Feeding America, the Salvation Army, and The Baby Pantry.

She is collecting the spoons as well as the food because she has a spoon collection, one from every city she has ever visited. She also loves kids.

“I connected those two together because they are both my passion and something I like to,” she says.

Her work with children includes working at the Coral Reef Tennis Camp teaching kids to play tennis.

“I went from teaching the little kids one week to teaching the kids from eight to ten,” she says. “I organized activities for them and made sure we stayed in a calm and friendly environment.”

The next summer she worked at the Bet Shira Camp Kes, which she says is pretty much a day care. That summer she dealt with children aged six months to six years old.

“I spent most of my time with the babies and the four-year-olds,” she says. “I played with them, I set up nap time and I took them out on walks.”

The summer before her junior year she went to the University of Miami Summer Scholars program for three weeks.

“I took law litigation and introduction to legal procedures,” she says.

This past summer, she did a four-week internship at Sideline Sports Marketing. She wants to be a corporate lawyer, and she was able to do a variety of work from basic tasks to testing new work sites. She also designed the new LinkedIn page and an Indeed.com page for the company.

This summer she was the Director of Outreach program of Sustainable Humankind.

“We went to this school, Miami Heights Elementary,” she says. “I helped distribute water bottles and helped the kids understand the presentation.”

At Palmetto, Villacreces is a cheerleader. She’s been on the squad for three years.

“I love it,” she says. “We are at the football games; we do pep rallies. We represent the school. All the girls are like my sisters.”

She’s a member of the National Technical Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, National Social Science Honor Society and she’s in LEO Club. She’s in the Student Cabinet for the Class of 2025 and she’s the Student Council Marketing senator.

She also a co-vice president for the Student Organ Donation Advocates and Vice President of the Mock Trial Club. She’s also a tutor for Our Children Global.

Her academic honors include two Advanced Placement Scholar recognitions. She received National Hispanic Recognition from the College Board. She will receive the Capstone diploma for completing the Capstone program.

In college, she wants to major in Political Science on a pre-law track. Her college list includes the University of Miami, Florida State University, the University of Florida, American University, and IE University is Instituto de Empresa in Madrid.

She is also a Posse Semi-finalist, and is aiming for Syracuse.

Recently she became the Director of Operations at Engage Politica, a student-run organization that focuses on bringing awareness to political topics and issues.
