For the fifth year in a row, the Homestead Public Information Office (PIO) received national attention for excellence in marketing and communications. The PIO came back with eight awards from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association’s (3CMA) prestigious Savvy Awards Competition, grabbing top honors in two video categories and a host of other recognition for events, community visioning, and marketing around community issues.
The PIO-produced marketing piece for the Homestead National Parks Trolley, Inside Homestead Explores the National Parks Trolley, won the top honor, or Savvy, in both the One-Time Special Programming and Promotional Video categories. The A Safer Homestead campaign informing residents of the Homestead Police Department’s move to a new Headquarters received similarly high praise, garnering a Silver Circle Award in the Community Issue category and an Award of Excellence in the Community Visioning and One-Time Event categories.
“Homestead took on a far-reaching project and the result was the community coming together in a meaningful, highly visible way,” said one 3CMA judge commenting on A Safer Homestead. She continued, “Improving relations between police and citizens is more important now than ever!”
The Public Information Office received a Silver Circle Award in the Promotional Video category for its 2016 tribute to City Staff, Homestead Public Servants: We’re Only One Call Away. The moving tribute is used to boost employee morale and remind citizens of the work public servants do for them every day. The PIO won two additional Awards of Excellence in the Recurring Event category forMilitary Appreciation Day and in the News Programming category for Inside Homestead, the City’s monthly news broadcast designed to keep residents informed and engaged with local government.
