Sportscar Vintage Racing Association and Trans Am Series to race on 2.27-mile road course
Homestead-Miami Speedway is transforming its racing events from stock cars to vintage cars as the Sportscar Vintage Racing Association (SVRA) and the Trans Am Series will compete in a full slate of events on April 10-12 at the “Miami Sports Car Weekend.”
Not only will the weekend’s events include sprint and endurance road racing with the Trans Am Series and SVRA vintage race groups, but will also offer on-track oval exhibitions and a car show. The “Miami Sports Car Weekend” will feature more than 12 different races over three days on the track’s infield road course – an 11 turn 2.27-mile modified layout utilizing Turns 3 & 4 of the Oval – by both SVRA and the Trans Am Race Series. It will also include the Stuttgart Cup for Porsche Cayman Series throughout the weekend.
A group of vintage and historic oval racing cars will run multiple exhibition sessions on Homestead’s 1.5-mile oval, the same oval that NASCAR’s premier series races on. Open wheel race cars, including Sprint Cars, Midgets, Indy, Championship cars, as well as Stock Cars, Modifieds, Supermodifieds and NASCAR stock cars are invited to participate.

Ticket prices will start at $10 for a single-day Friday ticket, $20 for a single-day Saturday ticket, $20 for a single-day Sunday ticket, and $30 for a full weekend pass (Friday–Sunday). Kids 12 and younger will be admitted for free. Tickets may be purchased upon entrance to Homestead-Miami Speedway through Gate 18 off of Palm Drive, or pre-purchased by calling (305) 230-5331. The ticket will allow fans to watch the event from the infield above the garages and along the road course fence lines and bleachers. General day parking will be free.
Fan camping will also be available in RVs or tents at $150 per space. This does not contain hookups, and fans may load in on Friday (4/10) or Saturday (4/11) beginning at 8 a.m. and must exit by Sunday (4/12) at7 p.m. Fans may purchase camping spaces by calling (305) 230-5331 or purchasing at Gate 18 upon arrival to the event.
SVRA racing features classic Jaguars, Triumphs, BMWs, MGs, and Lotuses as well as contemporary Camaros, Audis, Porsches and Corvettes that compete in races. Trans Am includes three different classes – the TA, TA2 and TA3 – and throughout the years has seen some of the greatest names in motorsports including Tommy Kendall, Mark Donohue, Peter Gregg, Bob Tullius and Wally Dallenbach, Jr.

The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association is one of the oldest and largest of the Vintage racing organizations in the United States. Originally called the Southeast Vintage Racing Association, it was founded in 1981 by Ford Heacock III. With an initial membership of 25 drivers and supporters, the organization has become the premier vintage racing organization in the United States with more than 1,500 members. The 2014 season features a schedule bolstered by the addition of the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway (another SVRA first in Vintage Racing), Pocono Raceway and the Homestead Miami Speedway. Additionally, the U.S. Vintage Racing National Championships will again be conducted at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas.

The Speedway has been open since 1995 following an initiative to spur economic recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew.
