The Homestead and Florida City communities will unite to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the annual MLK Community Breakfast on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the Phichol Williams Community Center, located at 951 SW 4th Street, Homestead, Florida 33030.

The theme for the event, “Celebrating the Voting Rights Act of 1965,” will highlight the significance of this landmark legislation in protecting voting rights and its continued impact on civil rights movements across the nation. This year’s commemoration will also highlight the labor movement, which has been a cornerstone in the fight for economic equality and workers’ rights, shaping the workplace standards we have in place today.

The event serves as an opportunity for the South Dade community to come together, reflect on Dr. King’s teachings, and celebrate the advancements made in education while acknowledging the work that still lies ahead in achieving true equity in educational opportunities.

The Homestead – Florida City, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Breakfast welcomes individuals from all backgrounds to join in this meaningful occasion and engage in thought-provoking conversations centered around educational equity.

The City of Homestead extends its gratitude to our event sponsors, The Palace Gardens and BrightView Landscaping, for their continued support.

The event is free and open to the public, but an RSVP is required. Visit www.homesteadfl.gov/events to register.
