Anticipation is mounting following the International Aroid Society’s announcement of the Tropical Plant Expo, their 47th annual show scheduled for September 21st and 22nd, 2024, at Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center. This highly anticipated event is set to attract plant lovers, researchers, breeders, and enthusiasts from across the globe.
Unveiling the Spectacle
Hosted at the Miami-Dade County Fair & Expo Center, the two-day event boasts a remarkable lineup of activities that showcase the allure of all tropical plants with a focus on aroids. An aroid is a plant from the Araceae family, known for its distinctive flowers clustered on a spadix surrounded by a spathe. They include popular houseplants like
philodendrons and monsteras, valued for their ornamental foliage and unique blooms. Attendees will have the unique opportunity to:
- Interact with a global community of aroid aficionados, including researchers, breeders, and
hobbyists. - Explore an array of local and international vendors offering a wide range of species and
hybrids, many of which are rare and exclusive to this event. - Attend guest lectures from Marco Cedeño Fonseca and Orlando O. Ortiz on a taxonomy and
documentation, gaining insights from experts on plant exploration, cultivation, and more. - Get up close and personal with magnificent show plants that highlight the grandeur of these unique specimens.
