Miami Job Corps Center was invited by the City of Homestead to participate in their community’s Job Fair held at the Phichol Williams Community Center on Saturday, May 22, 2021. “We are thrilled that Job Corps will once again participate in this endeavor. The ultimate goal is to provide community members, students entering the workforce, and those who have been adversely affected in one way or another from the untimely events of this past year to gather information and meet with potential employers in our City” stated Ana San Roman, City of Homestead’s Economic Development Manager.
Job Corps is U.S. government residential education and job-training program for low-income at-risk young people. Funded by Congress and administered by the U.S. Department of Labor, Job Corps seeks to teach young people the academic and vocational skills they need to secure meaningful and lasting employment. Miami Job Corps Center, located in Miami Gardens, is actively recruiting applicants ages 16-24 from South Dade/Homestead/FL Keys to benefit from the FREE technical training program and academic program.
Shawn Frye stated “The Job Fair was a success. We had interest from over 20 young adults and over half of them have already taken part in our Orientation.”
MJCC Orientations are held weekly on ZOOM. It is free and open to 16-24 year olds and their families. For log on information, please call MJCC Outreach and Admissions Counselor, Mr. Shawn Frye at 305-796-7118 or Frye.Shawn@jobcorps.org
