Cleaning up that Grocery List

It goes without saying that a strong, nutritious diet is one of the pillars of good health and impressive physique. However, it also brings up the question of what healthy means.  Does it mean low-carb, low-calorie, vegan, or some other exclusive category? There are many different groups actively argue the superiority of their theory. What this ultimately does, is create confusion among people who just want to be categorized as healthy. So, what should we eat? You can argue towards any of these views, but there is definitely one concept that nobody in their right mind can argue against.

Limiting the intake of processed and refined sugars will have a positive effect on your health.

This might seem pretty basic to some, but do you know if what you’re eating right now is ridden with processed sugars? Would you know which food has more chemical garbage in it? There are certain things you should be looking for when shopping to avoid refined sugars as well as other chemicals.

“From concentrate”

If you see this somewhere on the container, do your body a favor, and walk away. Concentrating a product (usually a fruit) allows for the addition of chemicals, and processed sugars into your food. You’re also likely to have less of the actual product you thought you purchased.

“Fruit puree”

If you’ve ever made fruit puree at home, you’ll know that your puree ended up having more sugar than anything else. In industrial processes, they don’t make them like grandma. Grandma wouldn’t add extra color or high fructose corn syrup, would she? It’s hard to say what exactly goes into the recipe for puree which is why you should avoid it.

“Artificial and/or Natural flavoring”

Ask yourself this. Can you define at all what that is? Of course not. Chances are, not a lot of people can even pronounce the chemical formula that describes this mystery flavor. However, it’s safe to say that these things are probably not very good for you.

If these tips wipe out about half of your usual grocery list, it might be time to write a new one.  Doing so will absolutely have a positive effect on your energy levels, body composition, and even skin tone. Try it.
