Foster Fair Orientation Events

Saving pet lives starts with you! You can help ensure that our pets remain happy and healthy in a home environment and allow pets and orphaned kittens to Thrive in 305 while they wait to find their forever families.

Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (Animal Services) is in urgent need of pet foster parents. Animal Services experiences an influx of animals at the shelter during the summer months including orphaned kittens.

To contribute to our goal of saving animal lives, Animal Services is seeking volunteers able to care for our dogs and orphaned neonate kittens (0-2 months old) by serving as fosters and Kitten Cuddlers. The department will provide training and supplies needed to care for the shelter pets and neonate kittens to help them survive and thrive without their mother’s care.

Due to the high risk of infectious diseases, the shelter environment is not suitable for these vulnerable newborn kittens. Once the kittens can eat on their own, they can be placed on the adoption floor at Animal Services’ Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral or made available at other offsite adoption locations to find their forever home. Animal Services will provide all veterinary care for these kittens, as well as sterilization before they are adopted. It is our hope to find homes for our Miami-Dade County orphaned kittens.

Our success in saving these vulnerable lives depends on foster parents. Participants and their families can also earn volunteer hours. Students can receive community service hours.

There will be a series of orientations offered throughout the County where you can participate and obtain more information and training. The dates and locations are as follows:
