Head to the SLS for Miami Spice

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

September heralds the end of summer and the beginning of football season, cozy evenings and PSLs. But it also affords foodies the opportunity to experience the menus at some of Miami’s top restaurants at a fraction of the cost thanks to Miami Spice. The swanky SLS hotel on Miami Beach currently offers the Miami Spice menu at its two top tier restaurants- The Bazaar by Jose Andres and Katsuya. Both offer the Miami Spice menu Sunday-Thursday evenings for just $42, exclusive of tax and gratuity.

The Bazaar by Jose Andres

From the moment you enter the expansive dining room at The Bazaar- you know you’re in for a special treat. Helmed by James Beard Award-winning chef José Andrés, the restaurant offers a vibrant mix of sophisticated cuisine and a playful indoor-outdoor space designed by Philippe Starck.

As part of the Miami Spice promotion, diners can mix and match from an array of special five-course menus. Guests can choose between favorites like salmon roe “Bagels and Lox,” yucca “churros,” Cuban coffee-rubbed churrasco with passion fruit, and lots more. In essence, two guests dining together have the opportunity to experience ten of Andres’ masterful dishes. Our favorites included the chicken croquetas- a bit of Spain in every bite and the Gazpacho Patricia, (named after its creator, who happens to be Andres’ wife); the best we’ve tasted this side of the Atlantic. Not to be missed are the Pisto, the Brussels Sprouts or the Traditional Flan.

The cool vibe and friendly service at The Bazaar make for a fun and lively evening of tasting the best Spanish bites with playful Caribbean, Latin American and even Asian influences. Enhance your meal with a couple of The Bazaar’s tasty and potent signature cocktails

Katsuya

Elegant and sleek, this upscale eatery offers unique and exquisitely prepared sushi and Japanese dishes with a Latin flair.  Featuring the dynamic pairing of master sushi chef Katsuya Uechi and design impresario Philippe Starck, Katsuya provides a feast for the senses, where guests can enjoy specialty cocktails, unique rolls, and spectacular sushi and sashimi platters.  Chef Uechi elevates the dining experience with creations that combine traditional Japanese cuisine with added California influences, prevalent in dishes such as the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna, and the  Branzino Filet Oyster Fried Rice, as well as in award-winning cocktails like the Burning Mandarin and Katsuya Fresh.

Standouts on the Miami Spice Menu include the Truffle Ponzu Ceviche- composed of the highest quality sashimi drenched in a tangy, savory truffle dressing, the Crispy Rock Shrimp blended  with a creamy spicy sauce and the Miso Glazed Black Cod as a main course- expertly prepared in a Houba leaf with Hajikami ginger. The Baked Crab Handroll is arguably the best sushi roll in town. Although it’s not on the Miami Spice menu, we would be remiss if we didn’t highly encourage you to order it during a visit to Katsuya.  Desserts include a choice between donuts, sorbets or a Miso soaked caramel cake with caramelized marshmallows.

The Miami Spice menu is available Sunday-Thursday evenings through the end of September. For more information visit https://www.sbe.com/hotels/sls-hotels/south-beach/dining.
