Homeostasis

Hakuna matata! It means no worries! Homeostasis, homeo-what? It means balance; it is the natural habitable state of the human body in which an individual or organism feels most comfortable. You might be thinking, “How do I get me some of that?” On today’s edition of Route 664 the Road to Human Kindness, nutritional biochemist Jay Foster gives us the answer to that very important question, nutrition! You can exercise and go to the gym all you want, but if your nutrition sucks, you will not see results. A balanced and nutritious diet helps the body reach a whole new level of homeostasis, the kind that the human body was meant to enjoy.

Jay Foster has had over 40 years of experience in applied clinical nutrition. He is a certified clinical nutritionist based in Florida and is the founder and president of Body Chemistry Associates Inc. Physicians consult with him both locally and from all over the world. He even hosted his own radio show for over 20 years called “Health Connection Radio,” which you can listen to every Monday at 9am or 6pm on 664 Radio. He’s an expert in analyzing your vitamin and mineral intake in your diet, to determine whether it’s in balance, or otherwise what you need to do to get yourself in balance. Besides a healthy diet, Jay focuses on exposure to toxic chemicals which many physicians are not sufficiently trained to recognize, toxins which can severely damage neurotransmitters in the human brain. These toxins can act as a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor or SSRI, which pretty much prevents you from receiving sufficient serotonin which is the key hormone that stabilizes our mood. This could very well explain why so many people experience clinical depression. As far as Alzheimer’s disease and brain health goes, Jay advocates for prevention with frequent use of vitamins E and C in combination as the increase in these antioxidants have been shown to reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s because they prevent the oxidation of the brain.

The Road to Human Kindness is also about feeling good, and nutritionists like Jay Foster can help you to both feel better and live longer. These are just a few of the many fascinating little details that can make a big difference in our lives as human beings. And it can certainly go a long way to promote the desire to generously give to and support organizations that research and seek to eliminate diseases like Alzheimer’s and that’s where the idea of Social Secharity comes in. At the Endow America Network Foundation we believe that Charity can solve most if not all of America’s problem, and the world for that matter, because it harnesses the simple yet remarkable power of human kindness.
