This morning, Its4TheKids Foundation along with the help of over 300 volunteers from across South Florida, packaged 140,000 servings of nourishing foods into drum barrels to ship to the Gracious Hands orphanage in Gressier, Haiti as well as other surrounding children’s orphanages in the country.
Its4TheKids filled 100 barrels with food that will provide adequate nourishment to hundreds of orphans around Haiti. Each barrel costs a total of $750, which covers the price of the barrel, food, shipping, and door-to-door delivery. Each barrel was custom decorated by volunteers, including young children, with messages of hope and love, to remind the kids in Haiti that they too are cared for and in our thoughts.
“Haiti has had a long history of devastation through hurricanes, financial crises, and

political strife, and is currently being hit with COVID-19, gang wars and continued food shortages,” said Ricky Patel, president of Its4TheKids Foundation. “These factors make it extremely difficult to ensure consistent food supply, so we are doing our part to make sure these children receive the proper nourishment they need.”

Before President Jovenel Moise was assassinated in July, the country was in poor condition with gas prices at $10/ gallon when available, which is even harder to comprehend when the national daily salary average is $2/day. Food supply is hard to find and where we used to depend on food sources, it is too dangerous to purchase food from that area, so the kids are struggling to be fed. Now with the recent events, the country is even in more turmoil and resources are even more limited, so Its4TheKids is decided to take immediate action by hosting the Drums of Hope event.

Its4TheKids and Gracious Hands orphanage is familiar with sending 4-10 barrels of supply every few months including mattresses, school supplies, feminine sup
“At Its4TheKids, we strive to improve the lives of children in need, and their families, by providing access to basic necessities, education, and quality healthcare. We understand that working together as a team and as a community can help us achieve these goals and make giving back fun,” said Taylor Peña, secretary of Its4TheKids Foundation.
