To My Fellow South Miamians,

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

I am honored beyond words to have been chosen to represent you in moving the City of South Miami forward. Going door to door down every street of the city was an incredible experience. Having so many of the people I met come out to cast a vote for me was an incredible affirmation of support for the direction and ideas I have for the city. I owe a debt of gratitude to you which I will work tirelessly to repay.

To the other candidates in the race, I’d like to thank you for the service you have and will continue to provide the city. I know how arduous this special election was and I saw firsthand your incredible effort and your genuine passion for the city. This was a special race in more than just title; your energetic supporters were a reflection of your character and what you have to offer to the city. I look forward to working with you in the future.

As we look forward to the issues we face in our community, I hope we can come together to reflect on
the positive energy and passion that arose in this campaign cycle. We can harness that drive and move
forward with a sense of purpose and a commitment to making people’s lives better. It’s clear that a
majority of South Miamians want change and we need to continue the important conversations we had
in the campaign to find what that change will look like. That is why it’s so vital to me that we stay in
communication, stay engaged, and stay energized.

I am prepared and excited to continue these conversations from the campaign trail into my term as commissioner. I am keeping all channels of communication open and will continue to go out meeting residents to hear from each of you. I plan to keep our citizens informed on what’s happening and to work diligently so that every decision I help make is by consensus and for the public good.

I’m spending my first 30 days in office circling back to those who made requests or expressed concerns during this campaign to ensure their issues are given proper attention. I will be meeting with all department heads in the city to hear their needs as well. After that, I look forward to bringing the ideas I presented in my campaign to the forefront, all with the goal of improving every resident’s quality of life and serving the City of South Miami. Whether you participated in this election or stayed on the sidelines, your voice is essential and I look forward to hearing from you to best serve you and your families.

In honor and memory of the late Commissioner Bob Welsh, I plan to work hard, keep people informed, and be true to myself and a sustainable vision of hope for our city.
