April is Earth Month! Come celebrate our planet and take part in family-friendly activities aimed at protecting and preserving the environment, during the “EarthStravaganza!” event on Saturday, Apr. 20, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at North Crandon Park Beach, 6767 Crandon Blvd., Key Biscayne.
Everyone’s invited to join in this marvelous day by the sea that includes a volunteer beach cleanup, eco-themed activities and art exhibits, live music, and the park’s first-ever “Mermaid Parade!” Dress as your favorite “Merfolk” and be part of the procession.
Think sparkly pearls and other ocean bobbles, seashells, fish tails and shiny tridents.
Be sure to bring a reusable water bottle, along with snacks or lunch, not wrapped in plastic. There are plenty of great spots to picnic while you play.
The 2019 EarthStravaganza! is presented by the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, in partnership with the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center and the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade.
Miami-Dade Parks is long-committed to the conservation and preservation of the county’s most treasured assets, its beautiful parks, beaches, greenway and blueway trails, nature preserves, clean air and its shared rich history, as the parks system celebrates 90 years of inspiring people to live a park life during this year.
