Havana Spice, formerly located at 9050 South Dixie Highway in Miami, has opened a new fast casual Cuban café featuring home style dishes, sandwiches, salads and family meals. The new restaurant is now located on the first floor of the retail shops at Dadeland Station.
“Miami is saturated with Cuban restaurants and cafeterias serving typical Cuban food, but what Miami doesn’t have is innovative Cuban. Our new fast casual concept is one of the first of its kind. Our customers are pressed for time and are price conscious. The new Havana Spice will be able to cater to those needs without sacrificing quality.” said Jessica Yaniz Muñiz, Vice President of Operations for Havana Spice.
GUEST EXPERIENCE
The new Havana Spice features a modern and inviting atmosphere that reflects the new look and feel of the brand, which aims to meld traditional Cuban fare with modern Cuban-American trends. The restaurant offers counter service where the menu is displayed on 4- 39’’ LCD monitors. Customers order at the counter and then are called by their name when their food is ready.
“Cuban food as we know it, is represented by traditional dishes, and this is great in and of itself but culturally we are in a constant state of flux.” said Muñiz. “As a community, we are constantly changing and growing. Second and third generation Cuban Americans are asking for more. To stand out from the saturated market, you have to push for change. This amalgamation of traditional Cuban food and modern, innovative dishes is how we aim to stand out from the crowd.”
Havana Spice proudly serves traditional home style meals as well as new innovative dishes featuring quality ingredients. Guests are offered an array of home style meals such as Vaca Frita (crispy grilled shredded beef with grilled onions), Roast Pork and Grilled Chicken. All meals come with any two side dishes and a dinner roll. Popular side dishes are white rice, black beans, sweet plantains, fried yuca and tostones. New, innovative dishes include the Guava BBQ Roast Pork and the Cuban Philly Sandwich, which boasts a grilled palomilla steak, grilled onions, provolone cheese, potato sticks and sweet plantains.
The Menu also boasts an impressive sandwich selection, garden fresh salads and family meals. Havana Spice uses top quality freshly ground Pilon Gourmet Espresso blend to make their HavaJavaTM espresso beverages, which includes traditional espresso drinks like café con leche as well as caramel mochas, and caramel café con leches. Espresso beverages can be served hot or cold. The dessert menu includes 4 varieties of flan, including, chocolate, caramel, dulce de leche, and guava & cheese.
