Hispanic Chamber names Youth Fair Non- Profit Organization of the Year

The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair and Exposition has been awarded the 2015 Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award by the South Florida Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as part of its 22nd annual Sunshine Awards.

“The Youth Fair team focuses its time on helping youth in South Florida — from providing a day of fun at the Youth Fair to granting college scholarships — and we are honored to be recognized for doing something we love,” said Robert Hohenstein, president and chief executive officer.

The award, which was presented Nov. 6 at the annual SFHCC Sunshine Award luncheon, recognizes the Youth Fair for its dedication and commitment to providing educational, agricultural and sports opportunities to students and delivering excellence and innovation to the annual Youth Fair and Exposition experience.

Every year, the Sunshine Awards aim to honor organizations for their leadership, contributions, successes, participation and involvement in the Hispanic community.

The Miami-Dade County Youth Fair and Exposition (Youth Fair) is the largest charity event in South Florida. The notfor- profit association is dedicated to promoting education and agriculture while showcasing and rewarding youth achievement and providing quality family entertainment, all without taxpayer dollars.

The annual Youth Fair exhibits more than 53,000 student projects to more than 650,000 Youth Fair guests and awards more than $300,000 annually in college scholarships, cash premiums and awards to students.

To date, The Youth Fair has presented well above $10 million to the Miami-Dade community. The Fair Exposition Center, which is the second largest convention center in Miami-Dade County, hosts an additional 70 community events each year.
