iRegMed Clinic Miami had its official opening in South Miami on March 6. A sports medicine center, the facility offers a totally new and innovative approach to healing, combining medical expertise, individualized evaluation, and careful planning. The event was well attended.
The Medical Director, Oscar Sosa, MD, is excited about what the opening of the center means for people here.
Dr. Sosa is a board-certified, fellowship-trained radiologist specializing in vascular and interventional radiology with more than 25 years of clinical experience. Dr. Sosa received his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed his residency in diagnostic radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and MD Anderson Cancer Center. He subsequently returned to Miami to complete fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Miami – Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Since 2007, Dr. Sosa has served as Medical Director at Vascular & Interventional Specialists, where he continues to provide minimally invasive vascular and interventional procedures. His extensive experience supports his role at iRegMed Clinic Miami, where he contributes to the clinic’s individualized and minimally invasive treatment philosophy.

He has completed dedicated training in iRegMed’s physician-prepared, blood-derived, gold activated serum protocols and is certified within the iRegMed clinical framework to incorporate this treatment approach into personalized treatment plans at iRegMed Clinic Miami.
Dr. Sosa says that the treatment technique used at iRegMed Clinic makes it remarkably effective.
“This treatment is unlike other treatments like PRP and stem cells or steroid injections which only really target one part of the overall healing and regeneration pathway each,” says Dr. Sosa. “None of them targets everything like this does, so this not only is a strong anti-inflammatory but it also has components that help to clear out dead cells by recruiting phagocytes and macrosites and all these different cells that clean out the area and also stimulating stem cells that come in and help bring other cells to heal and regenerate tissue. The actual regeneration of tissue that we see with this is unlike anything we’re able to get with any of the other treatments that are already existing out there. The other thing that’s different about this is that this is really only your body’s own products that we’re putting back into you, so there’s nothing extrinsic going back in. We use gold to activate the blood and activate the serum but not even the gold is put back into the patient. What we put back in is purely your own serum with the activated cytokines and proteins so there’s nothing extrinsic or foreign ever going back into you. That gives us a level of safety and that’s pretty high, especially given the level of efficacy that we have with this.”
He explained that traditional use of stem cells is impressive, but the results are limited if you only use stem cells.
“This technique actually stimulates your body’s own stem cells into all those other things that we discussed and it’s the combination of everything together that really seems to separate this from everything else,” said Dr. Sosa. “That’s why our results are so much better than everybody else because we do all the parts that are necessary to get true regeneration. The results are even better than what I could have imagined.”
Dr. Sosa learned all about the procedure from Dr. Schneider, the German sports medicine doctor who invented it. When they wanted to bring his protocol here to the United States, the owners of iRegMed spoke at length with him. He wanted to make sure that whoever did this here was doing it according to the protocol that he developed over 15 to 17 years.
“I’ve always been interested in this type of regenerative medicine and health so I jumped at the opportunity,” says Dr. Sosa. “When I met Dr. Schneider he and I hit it off immediately. We have a lot of the same philosophies on how to treat patients and what the future of medicine should look like.”
What are the most common types of sports injuries? It varies a great deal. Dr. Schneider in his practice in Germany sees predominantly spine patients, people with disc herniations and spondylolisthesis and all sorts of spinal problems.

“What we have seen here so far has mainly been knee injuries,” says Dr. Sosa. “We see a lot of pickleball injuries in our practice, but the good thing about this procedure is that it’s very good for all sorts of problems. The regenerative capacity of this procedure does not depend on the location of the problem or even the type of tissue. It’s good for muscle, it’s good for bones, it’s good for tendons, it’s good for ligaments. It’s good for solid organs. It really does a wide variety of things. It doesn’t matter where the problem is, this usually helps.”
Dr. Sosa says that people other than athletes can benefit from the procedure.
“We’ve had several patients here that have arthritis and this also works very well for people with psoriatic arthritis, regular psoriasis, even allergies,” says Dr. Sosa. “It helps with people who have thyroid problems, people with multiple sclerosis. There’s a wide range of people that this is effective for, not just athletes. Even a nonathlete can have an injury to joint or a muscle, so it’s good for everyone. It actually even helps prevent injury as well.”
He says that it’s best if people reach out to them and make an appointment to come in and be seen. That way they talk about their specific problem with the doctors and staff, who can tailor an approach for each individual person.
“We’re trying to get people to realize that this exists here now in the United States and is different,” says Dr. Sosa. “It’s a unique procedure and it has benefits that are way above any of the other systems that are out there. The potential of this treatment is really unlimited.”
