Florida Grand Opera (FGO) recently announced that Maestro Ramón Tebar, who has successfully served as music director of the company since 2011 following his acclaimed debut with FGO in 2010, has renewed his contract for an additional two seasons (2014-15 and 2015-16). The renewal guarantees his involvement with the company through its upcoming 75th anniversary season.
A dynamic young conductor whose articulate command of the opera and orchestral stages has resulted in increased commitments both nationally and abroad, Tebar will continue as principal conductor for FGO productions through the 2015-16 season.
Well-known in the Southern Florida classical music scene, Maestro Tebar also is artistic director of the Palm Beach Symphony (a post he has held since 2010). He recently was elected to the posts of artistic director of Opera Naples and music director of the Dominican Republic’s biannual Festival Musical de Santo Domingo.
Tebar is considered a rising star in the opera and symphonic worlds.

Maestro Tebar has the distinction of being the first Spanish conductor to lead a major American Opera Company and one of the youngest music directors in America. This coming FGO season Maestro Tebar will conduct Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Wolfgang Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
Florida Grand Opera (FGO), the oldest performing arts organization in Florida, celebrates its 74th year of continuously producing grand opera during the 2014-15 season. The mainstage operas of the season include: Giacomo Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, Nov. 15-Dec. 6; Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Jan. 24- Feb. 14; Georges Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers (Les pêcheurs de perles), Feb. 28-Mar. 14, and Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul, May 9-16.
