Veronica’s Dollhouse, a new boutique in South Miami, was recently opened by two sisters, Veronica and Andrea Gonzalez, who still like to play dress-up.
This “store of their dreams” is an exquisite life-size dollhouse that is divided into six unique rooms: The closet, living room, bedroom, powder room, kitchen and attic. Each room is lavishly decorated and filled with unique gift items, “dress-up” clothing and treasures for your home.
“We filled our store with things we love,” said Veronica Gonzalez. “We’ve spent a year shopping for brands and lines that are unique to the area and chose items for their detail, exclusivity and quality.”
Step into the dollhouse closet and try on a retro, form-fitting dress by Motel Rocks, Trashy Diva and Stop Staring! Andrea said that these “Mad Men” and Audrey Hepburn inspired dresses have classic silhouettes and are one of a kind finds in Miami.
Flirty shoes by Bordello and whimsical accessories complete the look. The Noir animal rings are fashion statements for your hands. Veronica loves the cameos by Tarina Tarnatino and Andrea said that the iconic character Enchanted necklaces “appeal to the little girl in all of us.”
Relax in the living room, where several of the vintage style furniture pieces are for sale and a classic movie is always showing on the screen above the cozy fireplace. September’s feature is The Wizard of Oz. A replica costume will be on display and the DVD, book and Barbie will be featured for sale.
The cozy bedroom features luxurious linens by Pinecone Hill, handmade pillows, throws, robes, boudoir shoes and lingerie perfume by Chantal Thomass. The beautiful, handmade wedding accessories, such as garter belts and wedding pillows, are icing on the cake.
In the powder room, you’ll find bejeweled rubber duckies and Parisian and Italian bath products alongside the bubbling bathtub. Parfums with atomizers, body splash and lotion from Berdoues have a clean, delicate lilac scent.
Vintage dresses, jewelry, shoes, handbags, dolls, paintings and much more are nestled under the spooky chandelier in the cozy, yet eerie attic.
“We made the attic a bit spooky, because everyone’s attic is just a little bit creepy,” said Veronica. “We’ve shopped all over to fill the attic with treasures and we’ll debut new items every Saturday. We’ll also be launching an Etsywebsite so guests can view all of the available vintage items.”
Someone’s in the kitchen with Andie… eating all of the yummy gourmet chocolates by Leone and pastel candies by Mrs. Prindables. Gourmet teas by Harney & Sons and Hampton Popcorn tins are tasty treats that make thoughtful gifts.
“The Hampton popcorn is very popular with many celebrities,” said Andrea.
The hand-poured candles from Tennessee in homey scents like gardenia will make your kitchen smell sweet. Veronica said to expect scents like apple pie and pumpkin in the fall and cinnamon at Christmas.
Speaking of holidays, expect them to be big at Veronica’s Dollhouse. For Halloween, the dollhouse will become Veronica’s Haunted House, with just the right amount of “spooky.” “We’ll have themed decorations and merchandise available that will transform the store,” said Veronica. “The movie in the living room will fit the holiday. There will be costumes in the attic for Halloween, presents under the tree for Christmas and Cupid’s arrow will spread the love for Valentine’s Day.”
Coco, a seven-year old Beagle who makes the dollhouse her home, will show you her line of pretty dog necklaces and chic pet beds that have removable, washable covers.
Join Veronica, Andrea and Coco every Thursday at 5 p.m. at Veronica’s Dollhouse for tea time.
Veronica’s Dollhouse is open Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 6 p.m. The boutique is located at 7221 SW 57 Court in South Miami.
