Eda Harris Says Farewell to Bob

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

By Eda Harris

Bob……….

For 25 years I called him my friend, and I called him “Bobzy”…
Thoughts crowding my brain,
Threatening to erupt like a volcanic tsunami
Threatening to throw my psyche into the darkest depths of the unknown.
Words are stuck in my throat…
And I do not know how to express them.
Marilyn, I do not know what to say and how to say,
But I know our pain and devastation is overwhelming,
But I also know that yours is far far worse,
and so we grieve for you and with you.
My heart is sinking, down and down it goes,
Into the earth, looking for some place
Where the unimaginable pain can be buried.
The trees are crying
And the earth is mourning – their champion is gone.
Our world is empty,
Our city is stunned,
Our people are desolate…
Bigger than life,
Kindness behind a rough façade,
Always ready to help,
Always fighting for a true cause,
Helping the planet,
Helping the people-
That was OUR BOB, “BICYCLE BOB”.
Rest in peace,
Plant a GARDEN OF EDEN
Wherever you now are.
Let the wings of our communal love
Carry you to the best place of your next existence.
Farewell our dear friend Bob…
Our hearts are full with you.
