National Commander of the American Legion visits South Miami

On Tuesday, January 23rd, American Legion Post 31, South Miami, was visited by Denise Rohan, the first female National Commander of the American Legion, the nation’s largest veteran’s organization with 2 million members. Commander Rohan was joined by her aide (and husband), Mike Rohan and an entourage from the Florida Department of the American Legion.

After being welcomed and introduced by Post 31’s Commander Mike McVay, Rohan delivered a moving speech centered on the importance of supporting military families, especially children.

Mayor Philip Stoddard, joined by Commissioner Walter Harris, welcomed Commander Rohan to the City of South Miami. They presented her with a proclamation and key to the city.
