In an effort to continue their commitment to control the overpopulation of animals, Miami-Dade County Commissioner Sally Heyman has partnered with the Town of Surfside along with Miami-Dade County Animal Services for FREE spay/neuter surgeries for DOGS up to 40 pounds, on Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Town of Surfside City Hall located at 9293 Harding Avenue, in Surfside, FL 33154. Please call 3-1-1 to schedule an appointment.

“Our local shelter is filled with many abandoned and stray animals that unfortunately cannot all be placed in a loving home. The best thing animal owners can do is have their pet sterilized to prevent them from ending up at a shelter,” said Commissioner Heyman.

“Responsible pet ownership is essential in the effort to reduce overpopulation of dogs. There are so many abandoned pets daily that end up at the shelter waiting for a loving home, spaying or neutering your pet can help the population of unwanted pets,” said Mayor Gimenez.

REQUIREMENTS (NO EXCEPTIONS): Service for Miami-Dade County residents ONLY. Maximum of two appointments per residential address. Proof of current rabies vaccination must be provided for all dogs. Dogs weighing up to 40 pounds will be sterilized and vaccinated against rabies if needed. Dogs weighing in excess of 40 pounds are not eligible for surgery. Veterinarians may decline surgery of any pet due to health reasons.
