Have you ever expressed a desire to do something and someone says, “There’s an app for that.”? Have you ever thought about a task you want to accomplish and then thought, “There must be an app for that.” An “app” is short for “Application” which is a type of software for your computer. The software app allows you to do something very specific.
Your computer comes with an Operating System already installed. This systems software manages and integrates the computer’s capabilities but does not directly perform tasks that benefit the user.
You came with an operating system installed as well. However, you may need to install an app to help you through life and to help you accomplish your dreams. Let’s pretend that I am an app store and you can download for free, certain software to help you have a better, more fulfilling and more successful life.
What would you look for in my inventory of apps? What aspect of your identity needs attention? What characteristic would you like to upgrade or change? Be very precise and identify the exact need or desire that you have. Since you are unique you can customize the app to suit you. Specify in detail what you want the app to do for you.
Remember you can have more than one app open at the same time. When you do have more than one running it is known as “Multitasking.” The success of multitasking is questionable psychologically. Perhaps it is better to run one app at a time because psychological apps make greater demands on an individual and require greater effort and support.
For those not computer savvy, the message is to continue to grow and improve and to use whoever and whatever techniques are available to you. Don’t settle for where you are in your life. You have options and opportunities that you might not be aware of that you can use to increase your personal happiness and success.
