The SIB Social Seniors gathered on Thursday January 17, 2013 at Pelican Park Community Center to enjoy another great event. Chairman Dennis Stubbolo began by introducing Laura Hoffman of Five Star Premier Residence of Hollywood, who gave a presentation to our members on the benefits of living in an assisted living facility.
Next was the hi-light of the afternoon, a virtuoso performance by the Dynamic Duo of Eddy and Michael. Eddy Shraybman is a Concert Violinist and Michael Bendoym is a Concert Pianist. As a surprise to all, they brought with them a beautiful Russian singer that brought the audience to a great ovation of cheering for all of them. Agreat time was had by all and the music was just magnificent. After the concert, Italian food from Sbarro’s was served. For those of you who haven’t attended our shows, come out and see what all the fun is all about by calling for information.
Like we also say, this was just another magnificent day in paradise enjoyed by all who came out to see the show. Our group is on a mission to enhance the quality of life for the Social Seniors in our community by offering events for them to attend. We feel that we contribute to our city becoming a great place to live, work and play. In the February 2013 Aventura Magazine, Kevin Maloney of Property Markets Group (PMG) a real estate development company said that, “…the good news for Hollywood Florida is that because of Sunny Isles Beach, Hollywood has become an emerging market.” So as you can see, we even help the surrounding cities become a better place to live. We want to thank all our members for the support they give us by attending our events and trips. We have had a very successful year so far, so let’s keep it going.
The SIB Social Seniors group had another fabulous bus trip on Sunday January 27, 2013. The trip started with a, “Good Morning to everyone. This is your Captain speaking and today we will use first names on this trip, like a family outing. My name is Dennis and my Co-Captain is Alphonso who will be doing all the driving today. My lieutenants are Roz and my wife Diane and the city employee Marie (who all did an exceptional job in helping me). I would like everyone else to sit back and just enjoy this trip today.”
We traveled from SIB Government Center directly to Versailles Restaurant for a delicious brunch in our very own room. After brunch we headed over to Pinecrest Gardens to see the 10th Annual Fine Arts Festival and Farmers Market. Then after we all walked around the fair, we got back on the bus to travel to our tour of the magnificent Biltmore Hotel. We found out the Biltmore Hotel is the 1926 Crown Jewel of Coral Gables. The Biltmore is an elegant Florida Hotel, whose halls echo with the history of one of the most fashionable resorts in the country during the 1920 and 1930’s. It offers a luxurious location, spacious accommodations, spa, pool, meeting rooms and superior dining.
The Biltmore’s landmark swimming pool is the largest hotel pool in the Continental United States. It is a 700,000 gallon, 23,000 square foot pool. It is truly a thing of lasting beauty.
At the conclusion of the day, it was agreed that everyone aboard had a great time and are looking forward to many more trips in the future.
The SIB Social Seniors brought us another magnificent quality musical show on February 1, 2013 in our very own Norman S. Edelcup SIB K-8 School cafeteria. We had over 150 adoring fans clearly there to see the one and only Biana!
Chairman Dennis Stubbolo welcomed everyone to this special program and asked Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman S. Edelcup to introduce a VIP in the audience. Mayor Edelcup invited to the stage our very own U.S. Congresswomen, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, representing Florida’s 23rd Congressional District and the Chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She welcomed every one and thanked all for electing her to another term as our U.S. Representative in Congress.
Dennis gave thanks to the small army of volunteers and city personnel who helped pull a show like this together, for the pleasure of our residents. It takes a lot of dedicated people to help run events that are the envy of all the cities around us.
With the formalities complete, it was time for the One and Only Biana Pinchuk “Live in Concert”. She is our City’s very own special prodigy, a gifted 10 year old, future star of our Universe. Her voice is big and powerful and at the same time has a musical operatic tone. She sang and played the violin to 14 of the most beautiful operatic and Broadway tunes of all times. Biana wrote and performed her new original song “River of Musical dreams”.
At the end of the show, her parents and grandparents came up on the stage to cheering and applause from the audience. Biana will be doing a five city tour in the future and she is definitely not one to be missed. This was a performance that we will remember for a very long time.
After the show, finger foods and coffee were served to complete another magnificent day in paradise enjoyed by all who came out to see this very special show.
