Heritage Park, which will be located at 19200 Collins Avenue is set for opening in early 2011. A “Heritage Wall” and a “Veterans Wall” containing the names of residents who have contributed to the progress of the City and who have served our country honorably will also be located in the park.
I would like to reach out to all Sunny Isles Beach residents who are veterans. Please contact me for a nomination form for your name to be included on the Heritage Park Veterans’ Wall. In the next few weeks we will invite all nominees to Sunny Isles Beach Government Center to verify their residency and service information. Please note only service men and women who are, or were residents of Sunny Isles Beach themselves, can be nominated.
The construction of Heritage Park on 192nd Street and Collins Avenue is nearly 70 percent complete. The park will have numerous amenities, such as walk-paths, playgrounds for children, a dog park and a basketball court. We expect the park to open in early 2011. The City will plan a special dedication ceremony for the Veterans Wall for Memorial Day 2011.
