Despite lagging National economy and slow job growth, Sunny Isles Beach welcomes three ‘new’ Police Officers

Interim Chief of Police Dwight Snyder swears in new officer Tracy Cabal.

A few months back it was reported that the City of Sunny Isles Beach, despite the ongoing National economic woes, was moving forward and announced promotions and job openings. On November 9th two of those openings were filled. Officer Tracy Cabal and Officer Brandon Bestard were sworn in as our newest police officers.

Officer Cabal is a veteran officer, with over 10 years of past sworn experience at the Miami Dade School Police Department and the Broward Sheriff’s Office. She is married to Detective Joseph Cabal, of the Miami Dade School board. Officer Cabal is excited to be with Sunny Isles Beach, and looks forward becoming involved with our many charitable affiliations, including this seasons “P.O.A.T. Holiday Gifts for Surviving Children.”. The Sunny Isles Beach Police Department welcomes Officer Cabal, and feels fortunate to have such a quality officer on board!

Officer Brandon Bestard comes from a “law enforcement family”. Officer Bestard’s father Bernard, is a retired Miami Dade Police Officer. The senior Bestard served the community for thirty years between 1974 and 2004! After witnessing such dedication, it seemed only natural that Brandon would follow suit. Shortly after completing high school, Officer Bestard joined the Armed Forces of the United States of America. He served the U.S. Army from 2004 to 2008. Upon the completion of his tour, he sponsored himself through the Miami Dade Police Academy. He graduated that academy in March 2010. Today, Officer Bestard continues the legacy of his father, and carries on the law enforcement tradition as he becomes a member of the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department.

“Re-Growth”. In addition to the two new additions, the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department filled one of their vacancies with an old familiar face. Officer Javier Estevez has been brought back to the agency. Javier served Sunny Isles Beach between 2002 and 2008. In 2002 Estevez joined the Doral Police Department and subsequently the Coral Gables Police Department before ultimately returning to Sunny Isles Beach. We are excited to welcome him back to our police family.

We welcome each new (and not so new) addition to our agency, and look forward to many years of dedicated service from each of them. If you see them patrolling the streets, please say hello and welcome to Sunny Isles Beach.
