Many residents have had questions regarding the status of Samson Park. One of the most important things to note regarding the park is that the park has not been “sold” nor will it be reduced in size. The park system throughout the City of Sunny Isles Beach is something that is of utmost importance to the City of Sunny Isles Beach and its residents. We are continually in the process of upgrading our parks and striving to maintain a world class parks system.
The City has entered into an agreement with the developer of the project known as Chateau which is on the north side of Samson Park. The agreement provides for much needed park renovations and upgrades. This agreement with the developer, in conjunction with the City, will allow for: expanded restrooms, a new playground, enhanced lighting, lush landscaping, improved walkways and picnic area. The majority of the cost is being funded through the development agreement for this project. The anticipated timeframe is about 18 months.
The police vehicle and police officer stationed along the border of construction site and park entrance are requirements imposed by the City for resident and pedestrian safety, at the developer’s expense, not the City. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but rest assured our goal is to preserve, maintain and upgrade our park for the benefit of all residents.
At completion, a “full-size” revitalized and renewed Samson Park flush with new landscaping, walkways, playground equipment, picnic area and restrooms will be fully functional and available for your enjoyment.
The Mayor and Commissioners want your input. The City will be scheduling a workshop to allow members of the public an opportunity to provide feedback on the details of the Samson Park improvements.
