A One–Day–Vacation:: Key West

A One--Day--Vacation:: Key WestIt was early on November 14th that our Sunny Isles Beach Social Seniors met at the Government Center and boarded our luxury bus to Key West. Everyone was comfortably seated and looked forward to the interesting exciting day ahead.

A One--Day--Vacation:: Key WestThe perfect weather would enable us to do all the things we planned. Time goes by so quickly when you are sharing happy thoughts with others. In a short time we were at the Cracker Barrel restaurant for breakfast. Dennis Stubbolo, our chairman, called ahead (about 10 minutes before we arrived). Everything was ready for us. The food was excellent, as was the service at a private section reserved for us.

A One--Day--Vacation:: Key WestAt the Key West Truman White House we were welcomed by Sunny Isles Beach Mayor Norman S. Edelcup. The guides were the best! Though we knew about Truman before, we learned about his personal tastes (furniture, etc.) and pleasures like his poker games. We left with an even better understanding of this wonderful President.

A One--Day--Vacation:: Key WestEverything was just a short distance from where we were. The hours of “free time” were spent in different ways. Some went to Hemingway’s home or on a local city tour. Our visitors were on Duval Street having a snack at a local restaurant or purchasing tee shirts, sandals or souvenirs. Others were at the waterfront relaxing.

We were able to share the details of what we did that day when we stopped at the Golden Corral for an excellent dinner on the way home.

A One--Day--Vacation:: Key WestCOMMENTS:

“[I] really had a vacation, though it was only one day.”

“We did so much in such a relaxing happy way that I returned relaxed, not exhausted.”

THANKS:
