Music fills the air in Sunny Isles Beach

 Alayne YeashIf you like music, take advantage of the many opportunities to hear quality performances over the next few weeks in our city. As the weeks progress, you can experience a variety of genres both indoors and out. Beginning with the monthly SUNNY SERENADE CONCERT SERIES on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 from 7:30 to 9:00 PM enjoy the sounds of Classic Rock & Roll performed by VIVA. This outdoor event is FREE and open to the public. The concert location is Heritage Park, 19200 Collins Avenue. Free parking available at the Heritage Park Garage and under the William Lehman Causeway.

Next, relax with BEETHOVEN ON THE BEACH performed by Orchestra Miami at 6:30 PM on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Orchestra Miami is led by Founder & Artistic Director, Elaine Rinaldi. This classical outdoor concert, held at Heritage Park (19200 Collins Avenue), is titled: Beethoven on the Beach Part III: Clash of the Titans. Kick back to the smooth strains of music from Rossini, Mendelssohn and of course Beethoven.

The orchestra’s featured artist is violinist Mei Mei Luo. She is the concertmaster of Orchestra Miami, the South Florida Philharmonic Orchestra, Boca Raton Symphonia and the Opus One Orchestra (Miami City Ballet). The Community Shuttle Bus will bring patrons to and from the event or free parking is available in the Heritage Park garage and under the William Lehman Causeway. This performance of Orchestra Miami is made possible in part by the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners.

To round out this month of music, the last installment of the FOUR SEASONS CULTURAL SERIES will feature Florida International University pianist in residence Kemal Gekic. Join classical music aficionados at the Norman S. Edelcup SIB K-8 School to hear this special performance on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or prior to at the Government Center or the Pelican Community Park reception desks. SIB Resident ID Card Holders are admitted free when they show their card. All others will be charged a nominal fee of $5. A reception with the musician will be held after the concert.
