You are invited to the former exclusive, invitation only event

Flash back to 2010 and picture a small reception hosted in a lovely room for a select few guests. In the past, the Thursday night Jazz Fest kickoff art auction charity fundraiser was a small invitation only event. This year in an effort to involve more of the community and raise awareness for the charities, a new twist is being put on the auction event.

Presenting the food trucks! On Thursday, October 13 from 5:30 – 10:00 p.m. the City will host the Biscayne Triangle Truck Round-up (BTTR). This popular group of food trucks will be parked at 200 – 201 Drive for residents to take a night off from cooking and bring the family out to enjoy music from a DJ and food available for purchase.

But back to the auction, each year a new artist is asked to design an original work of art for the Jazz Fest. This year’s artist is Stephen Gamson. The original artwork will be unveiled Thursday night and auctioned off to the highest bidder. The official art poster will be sold for $10. The proceeds of the art auction and poster sales will benefit two Miami charities, the Joshua’s Heart Foundation, which strives to “Stomp out Hunger” by providing necessities such as food and water to individuals in underserved communities and the Miami Children’s Hospital Foundation (www.mchf.org), which aims to create awareness, funds and involvement for Miami Children’s Hospital through donations and charity fundraising events.
