On Thursday, May 5, 2011 the City of Miami Gardens hosted its 2nd Annual Trashion Show. Through the Trashion Show we are able to engage our youth using an activity that sparks their interest while learning about recycling and how many things in their everyday lives can be reused. The show was an amazing display of fashion using what would otherwise be trash.
One grand prize was awarded; while first, second and third place prizes were awarded in three categories: Grades 2nd -5th, 6th -8th and 9th -12th. Twenty contestants were judged by a panel of four judges based on the following criteria: Amount of recycled material used, creativity, neatness and style.
Cash prizes were sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Miami Gardens.
