On June 1, 2013, City of Miami Gardens and Councilman Rodney Harris partnered with the Florida Circuit Court 11 to host a college fair day for South Florida youth. The fair provided high school students the opportunity to view college presentations, receive applications and earn community service hours.
Why a college fair at this juncture?
“One of the greatest gifts that someone can give a young person is to open doors to a world that can help them to be productive citizens in their community,” explains Councilman Harris.
It was a successful collaboration between city leadership, police and social service providers who are focused on bringing a positive change and directing area youth to a more productive life.
