Miami Christian School athletes place in multiple tournaments

The winter sports season provides Miami Christian School athletes with myriad opportunities to shine. And shine they did.

Over the Christmas holiday, the Girls’ Basketball team participated in the “Queen of the Palms Tournament” to become the Runner-Up Champions. The MCS Boys’ Basketball team was the champion of the Kruel Showcase as well as champion of HoopHall. They also placed 3rd in the City of Palms Tournament and were Runners-Up in Battle at the Villages and the Sun Bash Tournament.

These events have resulted in attracting several college recruiters to our campus to check out the talented players here. Two such visitors were LSU Football Offense Line Coach James Cregg (who has also coached at the NFL level) and the LA Dodgers Baseball Recruiter Kelvin Colon.

On the academic front, students in the Scholars Program have begun their projects and competitions for the year. “Scholars” is the highest possible academic program and students are placed based on their standardized test scores.

The students in the program for this year are:
• Freshmen: Moises Diaz, Karen Linares, Samuel Alonso, Max Krziwan, and Ian Babun. Sophomores: Sharon Berkley, Ashley Coll, Victor Guerro, Daznee Huertas, and Hazel Pabon.
• Juniors: Melissa Alonso, Daniel Victores, Christian Cruz, and Arturo Camarona.
• Seniors: Maria Catalina Alonso, Hoy Do, Jason Garcia, Jason Marono, Adrian Rodriguez, Arnold Ruiz, Bastian Olea, and Paula Barrientos.
