Miami Autism Dad Victor Antunez interviews Heidi A. Johnson, ADA Coordinator for Miami-Dade County. An attorney and former administrative law judge who has used a wheelchair for 40 years, Johnson makes sure the county’s own buildings, programs, and services work for residents with disabilities. She’s blunt about a truth most people avoid, that disability isn’t someone else’s story, it’s a not-yet for anyone who lives long enough. She’s also here to talk about the 2026 Disability Resource Fair her office is hosting on Saturday, August 29th at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds, where more than 175 organizations, a sensory play area, adaptive sports, and a youth band from Miami Lighthouse for the Blind come together under one roof. It’s a conversation with the person who was once the poster child, and now enforces the rules.
