Vets and Badges” host Robert Asencio and co-host David Magnusson had the honor of welcoming Dr. Debbie Goodman to the Miami Community News Studios to discuss a subject very much in the news, and on most Americans’ minds, in recent weeks, the impact of political violence.
Dr. Goodman is a professor at St. Thomas University and a nationally recognized TV criminologist. Her understanding of the current issues at play with an in-depth look at criminality and criminal justice made the discussions incredibly captivating.
Assassins’ motivations were discussed going back to John Wilkes Booth and ending with the most recent assassination attempt and Thomas Crooks. In between, a conversation ensured around conspiracies and those out looking to make a name for themselves, and why those may be the most concerning of all.
With the current political climate as hot as it is and a hotly contested presidential elections but a few months away, the discussion also shifted towards law enforcements and the dangers they face taking on such challenges, which as was indicated during the episode, have no idea what tomorrow may bring. We rarely hear much about the December 6ths, the November 21sts, the September 10ths, or the January 5ths.
This is an episode that will leave you deep and thought and concerned about what lays ahead. About Vets And Badges podcast hosts: Robert Asencio is a former Florida State Representative, retired police Captain who served in the US Army Special Operations Community. David Magnusson is a retired Police Chief and Military Historian.
