Inside A Teacher’s Mind: Honest & Open Talk About Stress & Mental Health
Teachers are going through great stress affecting their mental health. If they are not at their best, their students (your children), will not be either. What exactly is that stress? Why is burnout so high?
Why are teachers walking away from the most important job of all? Is the outlook dismal or is there hope?
On the 22nd Episode of The Silent Struggle (Also on Social media platforms as “Silent Struggle Hosted by Military and Police Veterans”, Former Florida Legislator, Army Veteran and Retired
Miami-Dade County School Board Police Captain Robert Asencio and Retired Police Chief and Military Historian David Magnusson bring to the show three Miami-Dade School Board
Educators to answer these very questions.
Dr. Ruth Doriscar, Ms. Karen Kelly, and Ms. Nancy Suarez discuss the issues surrounding the stress affecting Miami-Dade County’s teachers in a very negative way from low salaries and heavy workloads to staff shortages and school safety issues.
A recent Rand study showed that teachers were twice as likely as other working adults to report having difficulty coping with job related stress.
So, what are the answers? Our children’s future may very well depend on it. Tune in and see.
