This year the Parks and Recreation Department hosted two spring break camps: one for grades Kindergarten to 5th grade, the other for youth from 6th to 8th grade. In total over 80 children attended over the two weeks from March 17 -28, 2014. The camps were provided at no cost to residents so parents could continue working throughout the break and not have to take time off. Activities for the program included reading, arts and crafts, and trips to the library, bowling alley, and movies to name a few. This year’s theme centered around youth crime prevention and family. Support for these programs was made possible by the Children’s Services Council of Broward County, Broward Sheriff’s Office, The Department of Juvenile Justice, and the City of West Park.
