After School Program Activities

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

As part of the City’s After School Program at Mary Saunders Park, our students recently had the opportunity to be creative and decorate their study hall with Halloween decorations. Assisted by City staff, middle school students enrolled in our afterschool program also participated in the Halloween Drive-Thru Spooktacular event held at McTyre Park on Friday, October 29th at 6pm. The event was held in a drive-thru format as a public health precaution. Students volunteered their time to ensure children in our community left the Halloween event with a smile and some fun treats.

The Parks and Recreation department will also help coordinate and prepare for upcoming city events including the Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Distribution, Holiday Toy Giveaway, and monthly Free Fresh Food Distribution. Our after school program participants are able to assist and learn about the planning process when staff executes special events.

Empowering our youth in decision making is a part of our program’s criteria, as our goal is to prepare our middle schoolers for their upcoming high school experience.

If you are interested in our free after school program that offers homework assistance, field trips, and physical and nutrition education, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 954-985-1990 or email Dan Millien, Parks and Recreation Director at: dmillien@cityofwestpark.org.
