GOAL SETTING FOR THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Welcome to the 2025-2026 School year!  We encourage you to take time to get to know your educational staff to include all of your children’s teachers and support staff.  Get involved as much as possible in your children’s school community.

As you continue to settle into the daily school routine, we encourage you to have conversations with your children and set some measurable goals for the school year. Goal setting can be a great source of motivation to help your student’s growth. As you set goals, ensure that daily reading is part of the plan.  Reading is fundamental to being successful with all other subjects!  The earlier you start, the better it is.  Daily reading as much as 15 minutes per day can make a difference in your child’s education.  Find books in subjects/topics that are of interest to them.

The City can help with the quest of becoming better readers, as we have programs that support literacy including our Little Free Libraries Book Club. This program was created with the purpose of building community, inspiring readers, and expanding book access. The Little Libraries provide an opportunity to discover books to read while not being limited by time, space, or privilege.  The Little Library stations, located at each of the City’s parks, are always open.  Families are encouraged to pick up and/or drop off any book they would like to read.  If you enjoy reading, tell others about the Little Libraries stations and let us know what you read by dropping off a note at either Mary Saunders Park or McTyre Park.

The Social Services Department team will continue to support you through our various program to include our After School and Out of School Programs.   For more information about any of programs, contact  954- 985-1990  or email  youthprograms@cityofwestpark.org.
