Are you in need of health services but don’t have transportation? Good News! The Broward Community and Family Health Center, Inc. (BCFHC) is committed to meeting the health needs of residents living in West Park. They have established a new transportation service with routes to their West Park health center located at 5801 West Hallandale Beach Boulevard, West Park, FL 33023. The health center provides primary healthcare related services and with the addition of transportation it allows patients access to expanded OB/GYN and Behavioral Health. The increased capacity ultimately reduces and prevents unnecessary emergency room visits and patient hospitalization.
In addition, without the provision of transportation residents will not typically seek needed health services. There is a public bus system that operates primarily on main thoroughfares and many West Park residents rely on their personal cars or rides from family and friends. The county also has several agencies that provide special transportation programs, but BCFHC believes that providing curb-side transportation services create greater opportunities for access to healthcare services and is an important investment in community-building.
The Broward Community and Family Health transportation boundaries extend from SW 10th street (north) to Coral Springs Drive, Pine Island Road/ Douglas Road (west), Ives Dairy Road (south) to Federal Highway (east). Transportation request can be made solely by calling the transportation hotline within a minimum of 72 hours before a scheduled appointment. The fare is $3.00 and will be collected for round trip per patient. Additional adult riders (companion) are charged a fee of $1.00; children are also charged $1.00. A maximum of one accompanying adult allowed.
