Moving On After the Pandemic and Civil UnrestOver the past year, cities have faced unprecedented challenges brought by the medical, financial, and educational fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, a national reckoning on equity and race, political unrest, and natural disasters.

There’s no way to sugarcoat it- these are difficult times. All of us in one way or another have faced unprecedented challenges. Whether it’s losing a loved one to COVID-19, losing our jobs due to company shutdown, or dealing with racial inequality, we’ve faced so much in such as short span of time.

Though no one knows how long it will last, the pandemic will eventually end. Many of the enormous changes that have happened in response to the virus will likely return to normal.

Some things, however, may never go back to the way they were. The outbreak has affected so many parts of life, for so many people, that it stands as a pivotal point in history that fundamentally alters the way we live.

The coronavirus pandemic has completely upended day-to-day life. This has happened on an individual level, as our routines have been abandoned in favor of social distancing.

I believe that years from now we will be able to look back and look at these moments of collective resilience. Of courage. Of innovation that has emerged through this really difficult time.

Despite a year full of challenges, West Park is coming out of this pandemic stronger than ever before!

As a community, I am inspired by the resiliency this community has shown. We have weathered some pretty rough storms. With the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting daily life and civil unrest sweeping the country, it is understandable if you’re feeling a bit overwhelmed and unsure of what the future holds. This year is testing our resolve. We will not let it define us as a community. Together, we will prevail.
