Watkins Elementary students all boarded the Panther Express and are on track to having a successful 2024-2025 school year! Part of what makes the train ride eventful is the collaboration and partnership between the students, the school, families, and leaders in the community.
On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Mayor Felicia Brunson and Vice Mayor Brandon Smith participated in the Children’s Services Council’s Read for the Record event. Watkins Elementary also has planned a visit from the Carver Ranches Library on November 7, 2024, from 8:30 am-10:00 am. Students in grades Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and First Grade will enjoy having a book read to them with the integration of arts and crafts to make it exciting for boys and girls.
The train keeps moving with the school’s Spanish Heritage program, that will be held on November 22, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
In December, Watkins students will begin Progress Monitoring Assessments 2 aimed at meeting each student’s individual needs, which will ultimately lead to improved student achievement. Watkins has also taken the initiative to involve parents by holding a quarterly Parent University, which fosters a shared experience and provides a wealth of knowledge to parents on the current educational and instructional practices in the classroom.
