Spring driving safety tips

Springtime is coming upon us. During the springtime months, large amounts of rain can be expected to fall.  This is the time to remember to operate our vehicles safely while on the roadways.  Always remember, if the windshield wipers are on, the headlights should also be on.  Another thing to remember is to not utilize your hazard lights while driving during the rain.  We all know that there are so many places we need to be during the day, but while driving in the rain or on wet streets, remember to slow down and be respectful of other drivers on the roadway.

During the springtime, another common occurrence is fog. Please remember to utilize your low beam headlights during the foggy days and slow down on the roadways.  If it is difficult for you to see other vehicles, it is difficult for other drivers to see you.

Spring Break is coming up at the end of March and children will be out of school.  Please be aware of children playing and slow down in residential areas. The speed limit is 25 mph in residential areas unless otherwise marked.  Also, please remember that stop signs are there for your safety and the safety of other drivers and pedestrians.  A full stop is required at these signs before proceeding though the intersection when it is clear to do so.

The Broward Sheriff’s Office South Broward District thanks you for your Safe Driving which Saves Lives.

And always remember to BUCKLE UP!
