The vision for the future of our incredible city is amazing! So I’m here to tell you, West Park, that this train is moving, and I want every one of you to get on board now! I am confident that together, we can achieve great things.
I am filled with hope and optimism for the future of our beloved city. We are at a pivotal moment in our history—a moment that calls for bold vision, strong leadership, and a deep commitment to the values that unite us as a community. The decisions we make today will shape the future for generations to come, and I believe that together, we can build an even brighter, more prosperous, and more inclusive future for all.
Over the past few years, we have worked hard to create a community that thrives on uniqueness, inclusivity, and progress. We have made significant strides in improving our city, by enhancing our public services/programs, partnerships and fostering an environment where businesses can grow and families can prosper. But let me tell you something—this is just the beginning!
1. Embracing Innovation and Growth
Our future must be built on a foundation of innovation and growth. We live in a
rapidly changing world, and our city must adapt to remain relevant and vibrant. This
means investing more in our city, supporting residents by fostering a culture of
creativity and continuing to promote a healthy community. We must work to attract
cutting-edge businesses and thus create jobs for our residents that are aligned with
the needs of the future. Ultimately, ensuring that our city becomes a hub of
opportunity and economic vitality for our residents.
2. Building a Sustainable City
A key pillar of our future must be sustainability. We cannot ignore the pressing
environmental challenges that face us. Our city must lead by promoting sustainable
practices. By doing so, we not only protect our natural environment but also enhance
the quality of life for all our residents. Together, we will build a city that is green,
healthy, and resilient—a city that future generations will be proud to inherit.
3. Ensuring Equity and Inclusion
Our vision for the future is one where every citizen feels valued, included, and heard. We must address the falsehoods that have been created to divide us and ensure that all residents recognize they have access to our resources and opportunities they need to thrive. It also means residents experience safe, welcoming spaces for all, where diversity is celebrated and every voice is respected. Our city’s strength lies in its diversity, and together, we will continue to build a future where everyone has a seat at the table.
4. Enhancing Community Engagement
A strong future is built on strong communities. I believe in a future where more of
our residents are actively engaged in shaping the direction of our city. By working
together, we can ensure that our city reflects the values, needs, and aspirations of all
its residents. Your voices matter and together we can build a future that reflects our
shared vision and goals.
5. Preparing for Tomorrow’s Challenges
Finally, we must prepare for the challenges of tomorrow, we must be proactive and
resilient. This means investing in and planning for long-term growth. By doing so,
we can build a city that is not only prepared for the challenges ahead but also capable
of seizing new opportunities.
As you can see this train is loaded and moving, and it’s moving fast. We are heading
toward an even brighter future, one filled with opportunities and possibilities for
every resident of our city. Our economy is growing, our programs at our parks are
improving, and our neighborhoods are becoming more vibrant. But none of this
would be possible without the commitment and hard work of each and every one of
you- along with City staff.
But here’s the deal: progress doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when people
come together, roll up their sleeves, and commit to making a difference. That’s why
I’m calling on all of you today to get on board! We need your ideas, your good
energy, and your positive dedication. Whether you’re a business owner, a teacher,
a healthcare worker, a student, or a retiree, there is a role for you in this journey.
Getting on board means being an active participant in our beloved city. It means
showing up to and supporting city events, and working together to solve the
challenges we face. It means embracing our diversity, supporting our neighbors, and
striving for a city that is clean, safe, inclusive, and prosperous for all.
We have so much potential ahead of us, but we need EVERYONE pulling in the
same direction. There is no room for incivility, division or negativity on this train.
We must FOCUS on what unites us—our love for this city and our shared desire to
see it thrive. We are stronger when we stand together, and when we stand together,
there is nothing we cannot accomplish.
I am calling on each of you to be a part of this journey. Our strength lies in our unity,
and our success will be determined by our ability to work together toward our
common goals. So, I ask you today: Are you ready to get on board? Are you ready
to be a part of this journey? Are you ready to help steer this train toward an even
brighter future we can all be proud of?
This train is moving, and it’s moving with a purpose. We are building a community
where everyone can thrive, where every child can dream big, and where every person
feels they belong. So, let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work. Let’s keep pushing
