The Alliance for Aging is searching for outstanding adults over the age of 60 in Miami-Dade and Monroe counties who exemplify Positive Living. The 9th ANNUAL POSITIVE LIVING AWARDS will celebrate these individuals who are “giving back” to their communities in their senior years. All nominations must be received by August 1 and may be submitted on the organization’s website.
Chaired by Alliance Board member, Lorraine Harris, the Positive Living Awards is a nationally recognized event that honors individuals in ten distinct areas –Animal/Wildlife, Arts/Sports/Media/Entertainment, Corporate/Legal/PublicService, Education/Mentoring, Environmental Protection, Faith/Interfaith, Health Care, Inter-Generational, Philanthropy, and Positive Living.
The awards dinner will be held on Wednesday, November 5 at Jungle Island and will feature keynote speaker Ron Mag-ill, American wildlife expert, photographer, and Communications and Media Relations Director at Zoo Miami. The event is sup-ported by educated, experienced, business people and professionals. “This is a wonder-ful festivity that recognizes South Florida’s senior community and their commitment to Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties,” said Harris. “For 364 days out of the year, the Alliance serves the vulnerable elderly in our community. This one night, they take the opportunity to celebrate our older populations’ vitality and their contributions to making our community a better place.”
