French American Painter Eric Demarchelier presents his 2016 Exhibition in homage to Pablo Picasso at Palmeiras Beach Club inside Grove Isle

New York based French American painter Eric Demarchelier will be showcasing his artwork for the first time in Miami as he presents his 2016 art collection honoring Pablo Picasso. The exhibition features fourteen pieces of oil on canvas. Demarchelier’s exhibition will be hosted in collaboration with Palmeiras Beach Club inside Grove Isle from May 2nd to June 30th from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily (4 Grove Isle Dr. Miami, FL. 33133).

Trained by St. Petersburg master painter Leonid Gervis, Demarchelier has been avidly painting for the past 25 years. A native of Normandy, he divides his time between New York City and his atelier in Shelter Island. Known for his range of complex and engaging abstract styles, Demarchelier merges formalistic opposites of color, shape, texture and form to evoke the perceptual field. In this new series of paintings, Demarchelier pays homage to some of Pablo Picasso’s most famous paintings from “Dora Maar” to “Toreador.” The inspiration behind this collection occurred after Demarchelier visited the Grand Palais in Paris to see an exhibition called “Picasso Mania.” The museum featured Picasso inspired works by Warhol, Basquiat, Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Koon, Richard Prince amongst others. As an artist himself, Demarchelier was immediately captivated by the paintings so he decided to begin working on his own collection in homage to Pablo Picasso.

Prior to his exhibition in Miami, Demarchelier has been primarily recognized as a world-class chef and restauranteur. Since opening “Demarchelier” in New York City in 1978, he has become a household name in New York’s Upper East Side because of his modern renditions of authentic French cuisine.

“I’ve always displayed my artwork inside of my restaurant in New York. I was beyond excited to have the opportunity to showcase my work in Miami. Maybe one of my pieces will make it to Paris one day.”

Demarchelier’s paintings will be on sale during the Palmeiras Beach Club exhibition. The paintings will be priced between $7,000 to $10,000. The exhibition is free and open to the general public.
