With increasing support from the community since their initial opening a year ago, Joe and Jaki Gonzalez have expanded their vintage store, Neatful Things, to twice its original size.
Located at 9841 E. Fern St. in Palmetto Bay, near the “island” that divides South Dixie Highway, the store specializing in antiques, vintage and collectible items now is just a few doors from where it was previously.
“We just moved over Sept. 1,” Joe said. “We did well over there, but we were too tight.”
His wife, Jaki, is enthusiastic about the change and the public’s response so far.
“This is our first full week and we’ve done very well,” Jaki said. “The main people who have come are the designers, who are looking for large pieces, and that’s what we wanted to bring out — something different.”
Their previous location in the shopping area was packed with small items that were artfully arranged for eye appeal, but they now have room for more things in a “gallery” setting, including furniture and other large items. There’s even a parrot sculpture that is huge.
“It’s always good to have little things because you have to cater to the entire community, and I love eclectic pieces,” Jaki said. “But with more room now we can bring a gazebo in here, we can bring a pergola. We also have an event coming up the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, a huge flea market and bazaar and vendors are welcome. There’ll be food trucks and music. It will fill the street.”
Neatful Things Gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information call 786-223-0460, or send an email to neatfulthings@gmail.com.
