Village Mayor Cindy Lerner has been appointed vice chair of the National League of Cities (NLC) energy, environment and natural resources steering committee. The panel is responsible for developing NLC federal policy positions on air and water quality, energy, wetlands, noise control and waste management. Lerner has been a member of the committee for three years. “This is a significant opportunity to learn about all the great work and initiatives by cities throughout the country and how this committee can advance best practices,” said Mayor Lerner, who also plays a key role in the Miami-Dade County League of Cities (MDCLC) and she will be installed as president of that organization on Feb. 8.
