Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay have joined forces to coordinate the 2015 Relay for Life.
The event takes place on Feb. 28 starting at noon at Evelyn Greer Park, a day of community that “celebrates, remembers and fights back” against cancer. Visit our library of cancer fighters and enjoy a beautiful day of supporting the American Cancer Society, while building community strength as we fight a disease that touches all of our lives. This non-competitive Relay walk is a festival activity where the walking is simply going from one food, game and learning tent to another.
Pinecrest will sponsor a shuttle to pick up event attendees at Palmetto High School.
With the shuttle available, Race participants can stay an hour or for the night. If you’re a cancer survivor, be an honored guest and help lead teams in the opening lap at noon. A complimentary lunch and gift bag are provided by the Survivor Tent sponsors — Baptist Health Systems, Roaster n’ Toasters and JoAnna’s Marketplace.
Guests are the main characters on the main stage noon-11 p.m., so visit for fun, entertainment and a chance to cheer performers from schools, businesses and local bands.
A thank you to all of those who have already created a team and a special thanks to our early sponsors — Gus Machado Ford, Pinecrest Premier Soccer, Buchwald Jewelers and Biscayne Bank — for helping write a new chapter of success in the fight against cancer.
Team development chairs Cheri Ball and Heidi Feder are available to work with new teams. Email cheri_ball@yahoo.com. For more information about participating in this year’s Relay For Life, contact Liz Albelo at larranz@hotmail.com or go to www.facebook.com/RelayForLifePinecrest2015.
